Vase
Beneath the Moon's Reflection
7.5" x 6.5" x 5"
2026
*Beneath the Moon's Reflection* captures a moment suspended between revelation and concealment. A dragon emerges from the vessel's surface, its body winding around the form before dissolving into soft contours and luminous glaze. The circular opening evokes a moon reflected upon still water, while the dragon appears not above the surface, but beneath it—as though glimpsed through a pool on a windless night. Finished in a flowing chun glaze, the work draws on the quiet ambiguity found in classical East Asian poetry, where reflections often possess a reality of their own. Intended to hold small blooms, and seasonal cuttings, the vase changes with each arrangement, inviting fleeting moments of beauty to inhabit a flowing form.
