The Guardian

7.5" x 6.5" x 5"

2026

Inspired by the mountains that encircle Taipei, this vessel imagines a dragon perched high above the basin, watching mist drift through the valley below. The flowing form recalls weathered cliffs and winding ridgelines shaped by centuries of rain, while layers of pale glaze settle across the surface like clouds gathering among the peaks. Drawing from both Taiwanese landscape and mythology, the work reflects the unique geography of Taipei—a city cradled by mountains and rivers, where urban life exists in constant dialogue with the natural world. The dragon appears not as a conqueror, but as a quiet guardian, observing the changing seasons and passing generations from its mountain refuge.
