Lingering Haze
7.5" x 6.5" x 5"
2026
Lingering Haze reflects memories of Taipei, where the atmosphere is shaped as much by human activity as by weather—temple incense, street food steam, summer humidity, and the exhaust of passing scooters mingling into a familiar haze. The piece is less a depiction of a place than a recollection of its air. Swirling folds of clay suggest smoke, mist, and movement, while layered glazes create shifting depths that reveal and obscure the surface beneath. Like memory itself, the landscape remains partially veiled. Through clay and glaze, the work considers how cities leave traces beyond their architecture: in scents carried on the wind, in humidity hanging after rain, and in the atmospheric impressions that linger long after a place has been left behind.
